Baton Rouge classes: June 1st, 9th, 16th from 8 AM to 12 PM. New classes begin Aug 25.
Ponchatoula/Hammond classes: Aug 1st, 8th, 15th from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

The goal of Lamaze classes is to "increase women's confidence in their ability to give birth." Toward that end, women learn various simple coping strategies, of which breathing is only one. The classes aim to help women "learn how to respond to pain in ways that both facilitate labor and increase comfort."

The Lamaze philosophy of birth stipulates that "birth is normal, natural, and healthy" and that "women have a right to give birth free from routine medical interventions. The curriculum emphasizes giving women the information and tools to feel confident about giving birth and empowered to give true informed consent about medications and other interventions.

This session in an personal setting, allows couples to explore the transformative experiences of childbirth and their own unique pain coping styles while considering evidence-based information on normal birth. Please bring pillows.
